Patek Philippe Ref. 2523J "North America" Enamel Map Worldtime
Enamel, double crown, 1950s - this watch sets a new category for important vintage watches, a category with so few watches that most collectors, dealers and auction houses rarely if ever get to handle them.
The 2523 is a work of art on the wrist produced in the 1950s by Patek Philippe. The Cloisonne Enamel center, produced by Nelly Richard or Marguerite Koch, is a difficult feat to produce today, but even more so at the time when kiln temperatures and production methods were much less controlled than today. A testament to artisanal crafts.
The current watch, featured in the 1989 Art of Patek Auction, is in outstanding condition with extremely sharp hallmarks, gorgeous bright enamel and a very strong case retaining its original shape.
A holy grail, now with its new caretaker.
